Niagara Falls Man Pleads Guilty to Leaving Scene of Fatal MVA in May 2020

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that Michael Blackburn of Niagara Falls entered a guilty plea today in Niagara County Supreme Court to one count of Leaving the Scene of a Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash, a class “D” felony in violation of NY State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 600(2)(a).

The plea stems from a May 7, 2020 incident in the Town of Lewiston near the Tuscarora Reservation where Evonne “Von” Printup Rice died following a collision involving the vehicle operated by Blackburn.

Members of the Town of Lewiston Police Department and Niagara County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation of the crash and located Blackburn at his home several hours after the crash.

Sentencing is scheduled before the Hon. Richard C. Kloch, Sr. on September 13, 2021.
