Buffalo Man Racks Up Multiple Charges After High-Speed Pursuit in Niagara County

PENDLETON – Sheriff Michael Filicetti announces the arrest of 28-year-old Sakeel D. Hilson of Buffalo, following a Vehicle Pursuit in the Towns of Niagara, Wheatfield and Pendleton. On May 29th, 2021, at 0548 hours, Town of Niagara Police reported a vehicle fleeing from a  patrol unit at a high rate of speed, eastbound on Lockport  Road. The vehicle continued eastbound where it was located by Deputy M. Grainge near Nash Road. Deputy Grainge successfully deployed a tire deflation device but the vehicle continued to flee, eventually losing a tire. The vehicle did finally come to a stop in the 4900 block of  Mapleton Road in the Town of Pendleton.  

The male driver, identified as Sakeel D. Hilson, fled on foot. Hilson ran through multiple yards only to return his vehicle, where he attempted to flee in the disabled vehicle. Hilson immediately struck an unoccupied Niagara County Sheriff’s Office patrol car. A Taser was deployed and Hilson was taken into custody without further incident. Hilson submitted to Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and a chemical breath test. A bag of pills was located on the foot chase route, which Hilson had attempted to discard before apprehension.

Hilson was charged with: Criminal Mischief 2nd(D-Felony), Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Arrest, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Reckless Driving, Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions (in three townships). Hilson was held for Centralized Arraignment at the Niagara County Jail. Further drug possession charges are pending.
