LOCKPORT – Throughout COVID, the Kenan Center has been developing new ways to maintain recreational programming while keeping the community safe.
“Our soccer program is a mainstay in the Lockport community, and we have been actively redesigning and increasing the safety of the sport since last Spring” said Kenan Center spokeswoman Parrish Gibbons Herzog.
Changes to the program include “soccer pods”, small team play, for the 5-6 year old divisions to decrease contact, and staff dedicated to sanitizing all equipment during play. Deadline to register for the winter and spring soccer season will be this Friday, February 19. The co-ed program is open to ages 5 – 18 and will run mid-March thru May.
Another season of Girl’s Field Hockey is open to youth ages 5-12. The “Learn To Play” Field Hockey program is individualize to decrease contact and offers basic instruction including stick work, foot work, team work and the rules of the game. Deadline to register is Friday, February 26 and will begin the first week of March.
