NCSO Reports Leandra’s Law Arrest for Intoxicated Driver in Newfane

Newfane, NY – Sheriff Michael Filicetti announces the  arrest of 46 year old Sarah Carr of Grand Island, under the  Leandra’s Law statute. On February 11th, 2021, at 1915 hours, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Communications  Center received a 911 call regarding a possible intoxicated  driver with a small child in the car. Deputies arrived on  location and found the vehicle in question, occupied by the  driver and a small child in the back seat. The female  driver, identified as Sarah Carr, appeared intoxicated and  consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Carr was  arrested following field sobriety tests and transported to  the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.  The child was turned over to a guardian. Carr was charged  with: Aggravated DWI with a child (Leandra’s Law),  Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and several other V&T  Law charges. Carr was remanded to The Niagara County Jail  pending her arraignment.
