Trump Issues Pardon to Former Congressman Chris Collins and Multiple Others Tuesday Evening

President Donald Trump issued a total of 15 pardons today, former Congressman Chris Collins, who was convicted of insider trading charges after a 2019 guilty plea, was among the pardoned individuals.

Collins was serving a 26-month prison sentence which began October 13, 2020 atĀ Federal Prison Camp, Pensacola. While Collins was supposed to begin that sentence March 17, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was scheduled and rescheduled multiple times before his actual incarceration.

Federal prosecutors recommended Collins serve the maximum prison sentence of nearly five years in prison. In January of 2020, Judge Veron S. Broderick sentenced Collins to 26 months in prison.
