Dr. Robert Zayas, New York State’s Public High School Athletic Association’s Executive Director, released information on the upcoming winter season’s athletics scheduling today, noting that high-risk sports are still under review before declaring a start date.
According to Zayas, starting November 30th, the following sports are permitted to be played: bowling, gymnastics, indoor track & field, skiing and swimming & diving.
The following sports have not received authorization to be played: basketball and wrestling.
Zayas, currently, has no prospective start date set for the “high-risk” list of sports. He remarked, “The high-risk sports start date continues to be examined and will be revised if need but is contingent upon authorization from state officials.”
