DMV Exemption for Expired Inspections and Registrations Ends Next Week

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles temporary exemption for expired licenses, registrations and inspections expires on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  All vehicles past their assigned expiration date will be subject to enforcement statewide.

The exemptions were granted in late March to encourage social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.  While state-mandated guidelines continue to impact local businesses due to the virus, and with infection rates equal to that of the springtime in certain areas, there have been no signs of an extension for these exemptions coming from Albany.
