The Roy-Hart Varsity Girls Soccer Team clinched a win Tuesday evening, despite the best efforts of an overwhelmed Barker defense, ending the game 2-0.
Strike after strike, Barker goalkeeper Sydnie Luckman slapped, kicked, and captured multiple shots from a relentless Lion’s offense. Roy-Hart’s Cholate, White and Owens all launching precise shots throughout the first half, only to be stopped short of arrival.
Regardless of multiple attempts on goal, the score rested at zero for both teams by halftime.
In start, the second half resembled much of the first half. A swarming Roy-Hart offense threading around Barker’s defense only to be stopped short by the goalkeeper’s speed and reach. This only lasted so long, as the surrounding defense began showing signs of fatigue. A Roy-Hart offense, while also fatigued, managed to outpace Barker for their first goal with 23:32 left on the clock. Kara Cholate took advantage of a well-placed corner kick, sinking a close-range unassisted shot after a short battle with the defense.
The game progressed as it had throughout, a battle for position in Barker territory. With minutes left on the clock, Clara Jones positioned herself for an unassisted shot within a few yards of the net. This second score would be the last of the evening, leaving Roy-Hart on top at 2-0. The Ram’s overall record for the 2020 season is undefeated at 3-0.
The next game is away on October 15th at 4:30 p.m. against Newfane.
