Stopit App Released by Lockport Police Department, Acts as Anonymous Tip Line

The Lockport Police Department has enrolled with STOPit, the leading technology platform that deters and collects citizen reports about suspects and illegal activity. STOPit empowers citizens with an easy app to safely and anonymously report anything of concern to the Lockport Police Dept. – from suspect behavior to threats of crime or violence. STOPit empowers citizens to stand up for themselves and others while giving our law enforcement the insight they need to keep communities safe.

With STOPit, citizens can submit anonymous tip reports containing text, photos, or video. Our officers are then then able to manage these tips in a backend incident management system. The platform provides efficient and powerful investigative tools including the ability to message back with the reporter, which will allow us to address issues instantly.

STOPit does more than just help the city address incidents and mitigate risk. STOPit also allows our community officials to notify the public about known criminals or other information they are seeking information about. Collaboration between the public and our local law enforcement keeps us all safer. We believe our adoption of STOPit is an important step in our continued effort to provide a positive community climate and foster police-community partnerships for the co-production of safety.

Our STOPit program launch is scheduled for September 15th 2020.
