Senator Rob Ortt made a stop at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda Thursday afternoon, publicly pressing Governor Cuomo to loosen restrictions on live action theatres in New York State. Theatres still trapped beneath mandated closings within Phase 4 of the Governor’s plan to fight COVID-19.
“Today I joined the Riviera Theatre and several local elected officials to call on Gov. Cuomo to allow for the reopening of live production venues,” Ortt said, adding, “The theatre has worked with local health officials and has developed a plan to ensure for a safe reopening. Unfortunately, they have been ignored by the governor and his administration.”
Lastly, Ortt announced, “We must allow these venues that have safety protocols in place to reopen for the sake of our local economies. Once community institutions like the Riviera are gone, they are gone forever.”
