The Cornell Cooperative Extension on Lake Avenue in the Town of Lockport held a socially distanced concert on the spacious grounds behind their main buildings Friday evening.
Executive Director at the CCE of Niagara County, Justin Rogers, was in attendance with his family; kindly taking time to discuss the concert’s development, stating, “We started with the idea for the drive-in because of the cancellation of the Niagara County Fair. Which is obviously a large revenue generator for Cornell Cooperative Extension.”
He added, “We had to find other socially distanced ways to make revenue for the association. So, we thought an outdoor event where people could socially distance and wear masks could work.
“We also have our fair vendors here, to kind of also be able to give some of our businesses some access to additional revenue during these tough times. We just thought it was a good mix of a lot of different ideas.”
‘The Fleetwood Mac Experience’ took to the stage giving attendees a taste of the 70’s. Based in Niagara Falls, the band frequents many spots in North America, and have brought home two ‘Buffalo Night Life Music Awards’.
Multiple vendors joined in, serving food for the 4-hour long event.
With the event’s success in mind, Executive Director Rogers discussed having a second concert, stating, “We hope, we’d like to continue the events if we can. Obviously, we have to mindful that we are keeping things contained so we don’t contribute to the pandemic.” He added, that with the guidelines in place at CCE events, “We are really trying to do our part to assist in keeping COVID-19 under wraps.”
