New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt made a statement on Facebook Thursday evening, amplifying his point of view on the recent lawsuit filed by New York State Attorney General Letitia James. Ortt remarked,
“If people have broken the law, then they should be held accountable. However, to seek the dissolution of the NRA from the start tells you that this is less about justice and more about using the power of the attorney general’s office and the justice system to get rid of an organization that holds different political views than her own. This should concern every New Yorker.”
Additionally, the National Rifle Association filed their own lawsuit Thursday, accusing James of defamation and violating free speech rights.
