Rent Relief Program Takes Hold in Niagara County, Social Services Commissioner Explains Process

New York State announced a COVID Rent Relief Program which is accepting applications until Thursday, July 30th.

The COVID Rent Relief Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the household’s landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance. Income limits apply. The following income limits are for Niagara County:

1 $43,500

2 $49,700

3 $55,900

4 $62,100

5 $67,100

6 $72,050

7 $77,050

8 $82,000


The rental assistance payment will cover the difference between the household’s rent burden on March 1, 2020 and the increase in rent burden for the months the household is applying for assistance. Households can apply for up to four months in rental assistance.
