Lockport Farmers Market Update – Organization of Vendors Goes Cashless, Opening Day on June 27th

LCFM will have its 2020 Summer market opening day on June 27th, 2020 at the Lockview Plaza located at 21 Main St. This market will take place every Saturday from 9am until 2pm.

This year the LCFM will be a cashless market.  There will be $1 and $5 coins available for purchase at the market management table. Pre-ordering coins will be available at our website: www.lockportcommunitymarket.com. All pre-order coins will be available for pick up at the market management table. These coins can be used at every vendor’s stand at the market. They can be purchased with cash or credit and debit card. Customers can keep these coins week to week or they are able to be refunded for the coins.

(Coin examples for this years farmers market.)

Another type of coinage you will find at the LCFM is SNAP and Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB). Customers will use their EBT card at the market management table to receive SNAP and DUFB coins. The SNAP coins are wooden tokens with a $1 value. DUFB are silver coins with a $2 value. DUFB are an incentive to SNAP customers which doubles the value of SNAP coins, up to $20. These coins can purchase all food products, except ready to eat products and alcohol. For a full list of what you can and cannot buy at the market please go to the LCFM website.

Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is another form of currency the LCFM vendors accept. These checks are given to families and senior citizens to use at farmers markets on local fruits and produce only. The $4 checks are redeemable right at the vendors stands. All vendors who participate in this program will have signs stating so. Fresh Connect checks are like FMNP and are given to Veterans and their families.  These checks are redeemable right at vendor’s stands and can only be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.

As a reminder the LCFM will be operating using the market rules listed below:
