Niagara County Update Today, May 27, 2020

The Niagara County Department of Health issued the following update on positive COVID-19 cases in Niagara County:

We regretfully report the death of four Niagara County residents due to COVID-19.  We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of these individuals:

  • A 75-year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • A 94-year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • A 66-year-old female with underlying health conditions
  • An 89-year-old male with underlying health conditions

      The rest of the update is as follows:
  • 16 new positive cases
  • Total of 1020 positives to date (isolations + recoveries + deaths)
  • 301 active cases (286 isolating at home, 15 in hospital)
  • 656 recovered
  • 63 deaths
  • 11,529 people tested (source: https://covid19tracker.health.ny.gov/)

Quarantines, unlike isolations, are for people who are well and not showing symptoms but may have been exposed to the virus.  Right now, 257 people are in quarantine and 752 have completed quarantine.
