Niagara County Legislature Chairman Rebecca Wydysh gives message to online critics of COVID-19 response

At a press conference Wednesday morning concerning the spread of COVID-19 in Niagara County, Rebecca Wydysh made clear that she will not release any unverified information.

Wydysh reported an increase in social media messages, emails and phone calls from citizens demanding information in Niagara County.

The Chairman announced, “To those who were concerned that we did not immediately release information last night: I want to stress that we will not make statements until the epidemiology team has been able to fully engage.”

“The risk of improper or incomplete information is in and of itself a risk to public health.”  Wydysh declared; adding, “We will follow proper protocols, regardless of what information is leaked to the press or put on social media.”
