Lockport artist unveils expertise with stained glass at first gallery

Chad Salmeri, a local stained glass artisan at Copperpot Glassworks, held his first gallery, hosted by the Lockport Art Company at 485 Niagara Street in Lockport.

Initially, he spoke on his journey in becoming an artist, explaining, “I used to play in a lot of bands for quite a while, and then I stopped doing that, so I needed a new creative outlet.”

A few examples of Salmeri’s work.

Upon inquiring as to the use of stained glass being Salmeri’s chosen medium, he stated, “I used to draw a lot when I was younger, and this (stained glass artwork) seemed more immersive than just drawing a picture.”

My favorite piece.

Lastly, Salmeri addressed the growth of local art in Lockport, “The art community in Lockport seems to be growing and growing,” adding, “You can see the positive impact it has on the city.”

Did I mention it turns green?

Salmeri’s gallery is open again from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday evening for those looking to buy or just take in some quality crafted artwork.
