Medina region in 2020 offers more than it used to

The quality of life is on the upswing in Medina, thanks to improvements in the local economy; the development of a business park, and an increase in accessibility to local goods and services.

This reclaimed sense of community commerce, in conjunction with Village and State funded revitalization projects, has ultimately improved one other aspect of Medina – The local nightlife.

Years ago, finding something to do on a Friday or Saturday night in Medina was somewhat challenging.  While there were options, they were often limited in both size and number.

Last Saturday night, on a drive from Gasport to Medina, a reporter with the WNYObserver decided to see how much excitement could be found in just one evening.

Here are a few results:

In Gasport, Becker Farms hosts multiple events almost every week and weekend.

Patrons quickly filled the Becker Brewing Company this last Saturday for some drinks and a performance by ‘Acoustic Jelly.’

In Medina, Scott Robinson, Alix Gilman, Adrienne Squires and Evan Squires took over the Shirt Factory on West Center St. in 2018.

The Shirt Factory is not just your ordinary spot to eat or drink.  They often partner with local brewing companies, among other entities, to host and participate in a number of events and activites.

Typically, you’re bound to see the long bottom floor it occupies teaming with happy patrons on any given weekend.

Still need some action after the Shirt Factory? It’s a short walk to Fitzgibbons. A two-floored Irish themed bar opening in 2016, Fitzgibbons is a big hit with both locals and area visitors.

From out of town? — Not an issue, Medina has two popular and affordable overnight accommodations within walking distance for your stay.

The Hart House Hotel.

The Bunk Haus Hostel.

Just a note – this is only a shortlist of establishments and activities, for the full experience, you should come pay a visit.
