Teacher honored before basketball game, School District rallies to support her battle for better health

The Royalton-Hartland School District rallied together before a varsity boys basketball game Friday night; players outfitted with shirts bearing the Spanish phrase: “ELLA ES UNA GUERRERA” (SHE IS A WARRIOR,) all in honor of their foreign language teacher recently diagnosed with cancer, Marnie Kozielski.

Both teams showed support, standing in shirts supporting the popular educator.

Marnie Kozielski is a graduate of Medina High School, and a few years after attending Fredonia University, (earning the respective degrees required for her profession,) found a home at the Royalton-Hartland school system.  There, she is highly respected amongst students and colleagues.

Roy-Hart students ascend the stands before the game to share a hug with their teacher.

Athletic Director John Gryzmala spoke to a packed gym, “We are here for our warrior, and all the warriors that are battling cancer; family and friends, and those we love who are no longer with us.”

Gryzmala also exclaimed from the court, “We are in this together” and “Tonight, she is our warrior.”

Before finishing, Gryzmala had one final statement:

“It is my honor that we dedicate todays basketball game of the Roy-Hart Rams versus the Newfane Panthers for our friend, colleague and teacher, Marnie Kozielski.”
