Acting Sheriff of Niagara County Gives Candid Thoughts on Bail Reform

Acting Sheriff Michael Filicetti, and candidate for the position full-time come an election this November, gave insight on topics such as: Bail reform legislation, communications upgrades, prisoner reform and the opioid crisis in Niagara County.

Filicetti was candid on recent legislation from Albany, “I’m not against bail reform in concept, I’m against it to the extent bail reform recently went.”  Further concluding that when someone can rob a bank or fight with the police, be put into custody, and then after arraignment just be released, he takes issue with that.

The Acting Sheriff openly expressed his expectation for state legislators, “I’m hoping Albany will reexamine this; then make some amendments on their initial outlook for bail reform.”
