What is ‘Adopt a Senior’? According to the group’s creator and lead coordinator, Cheryl Dimitroff, “Adopt a Senior was formed to share some happiness and light with our 2020 Seniors. It is a platform to bring Seniors and ‘Adopters’ together. The goal is to have each Senior adopted at least once. Adopters may send packages with small gifts, cards, or letters of encouragement to their Seniors.”
Cheryl is the mother of a 2020 Graduate. When asked her motivation to start the group, she said, “Thinking back to my Senior year and all the great memories and knowing that they (current Seniors) won’t have the opportunity to make those same memories.”
Cheryl didn’t want to take too much credit, she cited the actions of other parents. “I started this group, but there were a few parents talking about the idea beforehand. This kind of grew out of those conversations online.”
